Being a huge fan of the Thai restaurant just down the street, I've passed by Riley's several times but never actually went in until a few months ago.
I was attending a going away party for a co-worker and Riley's ended up being the place of choice. It was packed when I arrived, but we had reservations so I wasn't too concerned. The host completely ignored me while I stood waiting for help for over 30 minutes. I was early, so I wasn't upset about waiting...but that's a bit much without even a hello, or how can I help?
When the rest of the party trickled in we were told that we had no reservation, and that we'd have to sit in the lounge. We were a large group and we were planning on eating, so this wasn't cool. After a few words and quite a bit of attitude (from both sides) it was discovered that our reservation was written down incorrectly, and we did get our table after all.
After that everything went well, our waiter was great, food was good and promptly served and we all had a great time. I had the veggie wrap and fries, and while it was quite good it could have had more veggies and less lettuce. However overall I was happy and the prices were fair.
We stayed for quite a while, but unfortunately we were seated right beside the live performer. Once he started playing we had to yell to hear each other, and the party pretty much broke up an hour later.
Riley's probably isn't top of my list for places to revisit, but I wouldn't count it out either. Plus I think the roof patio is a pretty cool idea!
Sure I'll go back. It's a pub with a great pub atmosphere - good selection of brew on tap. Great nachos - really good value on that - and why not? It keeps you drinking! The other food we had was fine and good value for the price. Service was friendly and attentive. Not all gorgeous as one reviewer wrote (probably an employee) but very good at the job. Want some pub grub? You won't be disappointed.
I was at Riley's today with three friends, and we sat on the rooftop patio. I ordered a coffee and was told that they don't serve coffee on the patio. I have never heard of that before.
The service was absent-minded - the wind blew over a drink and when my friend went to tell the server, he handed her a stack of napkins to clean it up, Returning change after the bills were paid took a unusually long time (there were only three other tables on the patio) I felt like we an after thought as the server prepared the bar for later.
Surprisingly, the food was quite good. Too bad, the service did not match.

This place is usually a hit. Food is great unless you opt for the wraps. My steak sandwich consisted of pieces ranging from rare to overcooked - a meal I had to wait nearly 50 minutes for. I'm not sure what they're using to make it. And the waitress we had was terrible. She ignored us most of the time, showed us attitude when we kindly asked if the food was coming soon, on top of which, she got one of the orders wrong and forgot to bring half of another one. If you get the waitress with the long blonde hair and you're not a flirt, don't expect to be treated well.
On a brighter note, the rest of their wait staff is very nice, and wing night keeps me going back there. Great selection of scotches, and a better selection of beer than most common pubs. Atmosphere is beautiful, and the food is usually very good. By the way, the lattice fries poutine is amazing! Best poutine I have had in my life.
So I love the place, but I had one terrible experience. Service can be slow at times (it gets very busy), but overall a great place with good prices.
We booked Riley's for a hockey team of 45+ parents, siblings and 10 year old hockey players. The manager was very accomodating and staff were ready to serve the team as soon as we arrived.
Kids loved the food, parents were happy with the service with a couple of exceptions...Riley's delivered good food, in good time at a reasonable price. We will reserve again for next year. Go Wolves Go!
Every time we go to Riley's we have a great time. We went on wing night and they were delicious. We sat in the bar area and the service was wonderful. It is my favourit place to dine with my family!

We try to get to Riley's every other Friday by ourselves or with the kids. My hubby will say lets try a different placed to eat but I convince him all the time to go to Rileys and he is always glad I did. This place is great. The food has always been served hot and is served perfect. Huge portions ( we sometimes share). Staff is always friendly.

Actually we didn't even get a chance to order food, we sat there for 15 minutes in a booth in front of the bar while waiters and waitress alike walked by us, carried on conversation, basically anything but acknowledge we were even there. It was 820pm on a Saturday night and there were 3 other tables, a grand total of maybe 15 other people in the whole restuarant and no one, and I mean no one even looked our way, didn't say a word, it was the most PATHETIC experience I have ever seen. I wish I could score lower then a 1 for service because we didn't get any!! Snotty staff, poor service we got up and left, it was like we were annoying them by disrupting their social time. We tried to phone the manager to discuss this with him and he didn't even have the courtesy to phone us back, so very sad really.

RILEY IS A GREAT PLACE TO EAT!!! the staff is always so friendly and i have recommeded not only this place to my friends but my parents as well. I moved to peterborough two years ago and rileys is definatly the place to be whether your having a good meal through the week or enjoying a weekend night. Id say the servers make the place what it is! You guys are awesome and im actually sad that i have to move back to whitby because there is not pub/restaurant quite like yours!! Im just happy that i heard you might be opening another rileys in durham region. Ill definatly be a number one customer if it is anything like the peterborough rileys! CHEERS
Riley's is an excellent place to take in an evening. The atmosphere is excellent, the people are awesome and the cooks, servers and bartenders strive to be really good at what they do. They have a large menu, and everything on it is excellent (I've tried it all) Every meal I've ever had has been done to absolute perfection, or the cooks wouldnt serve it. The servers/waitresses are very friendly, patient, and not to mention beautiful ;). The entertainment is excellent when Roy is performing. He's got a great skill and he's very passionate about his music. All in all, Riley's is the best restaurant going in Peterborough. Go out for an evening with a date, with your friends, team or whatever, you'll see what I mean.

Food is always done to perfection, and presentation is beautiful! Atmosphere was perfect (albeit a tad smokey, but that's about to change due to city bylaws). And the price is very reasonable.
It isn't fast-food, so lots of time to talk with your date/friends.
Awesome place to bring a date, shows how classy and mature you are. Expect to spend between $15 and $25 per person.
