As an 118 year old Canadian business, Purdys Chocolatier has seen a lot of change. We've delighted Canadians with the best confections through the best of times like Expo 86, or the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. We have been there through the worst of times including world wars, pandemics, recessions and now trade wars. Through it all, engaged family ownership has helped us to think long-term and live our core values. My grandfather, Charles Flavelle, purchased the business in 1963 with just 3 chocolate shops in Vancouver, BC on Robson Street, Granville Street, and at Park Royal Shopping Centre. Then, my mother, Karen Flavelle, took over the business, growing it from 44 to now 88 stores across BC to Ontario. After 29 years of leadership from Karen Flavelle, I am honoured and excited to share our transition to the next phase of family ownership of Purdys Chocolatier. I have officially taken on the role of Managing Director of Purdys Chocolatier and have joined Karen on the board to oversee Purdys Chocolatier and all associated operations. This transition has been so smooth thanks to an incredible team and support network. With Lawrence Eade as President, Kathy Nguyen as CFO and a strong leadership team, we are just getting started on the next phases of our growth. I will always be grateful to everyone at Purdys Chocolatier. You make Purdys Chocolatier what it is, and create the experiences that our customers cherish. I am also grateful to the many friends and colleagues who have enabled this journey: Lawrence Eade and Kathy Nguyen: for your leadership, mentorship and all the fun we have shared as a team Kriston Dean for all you have taught me and your brilliance as a merchant Andrew Lennox, William Haslett and Paul Taylor for keeping a steady hand on the executive team Melanie Roy for giving me the space to leave Digital in more capable hands! Hank Latner and Arjan Stephens for your council, wisdom and friendship Raichal Philip for keeping me (somewhat) organized Carolyn Cole and Gayla Swihart DeHart for guiding us along this journey Jamie McTavish: My dad, and the behind-the-scenes leader that keeps our family close, and thriving. And most of all: to Karen Flavelle for trusting us with the brand and the people that make Purdys Chocolatier so special. Scott McTavish Managing Director, Purdys Chocolatier

A sweet trip down memory lane! 💜 Did you know our Park Royal Shopping Centre has been a West Vancouver landmark since the 1970s? Back then, we were hard to miss with our bold stripes and groovy polka dot design. While our look has evolved over the past five decades, one thing has stayed the same: our unwavering commitment to crafting quality chocolates and creating sweet memories. From parents who visited as kids to grandparents bringing their grandchildren, our shop has been a part of countless family traditions. It’s more than just a chocolate shop—it’s a piece of local history! What's your earliest memory of visiting a Purdys shop? #MadeInCanada #PurdysHistory

The tariffs announced this weekend from the United States Government, our long-standing ally and trade partner, on Canadian goods is a world I believed wouldn’t be a reality. For all my career, North America has been an open free trade region which has strengthened each country. The shift felt this weekend is seismic and one I hope is short-lived. In a time of uncertainty, we look to what we can control and what we can do to persevere. Purdys Chocolatier is proudly Canadian. 117 years ago in Vancouver, BC, Richard Carmon Purdy opened a chocolate shop at 915 Robson Street. From this chocolate shop a legacy was created, a legacy of serving Canadians only the highest quality chocolates and confections made from the highest quality ingredients. To this day, our caramel recipe has not changed. We use the same recipe that Richard Carmon Purdy created in 1907, using sugar and dairy ingredients from our Canadian partners. Our chocolate factory remains in Vancouver and employs hundreds of Canadians. We operate in over 88 retail locations from Victoria to Ottawa, employing over a thousand individuals, and have some of the most long-standing retail relationships with Canadian landlords in their history. Our Support Office and management team are in Vancouver and always have been. We are a proud family-owned Canadian business that strives to make impact in all the communities we are a part of through Purple Partnerships, and through the countless sports organizations, parent advisory counsels, or community associations that utilize our fundraising and group purchase programs each year. This is why we are Canada’s Chocolatier and why we strive to create connection and joy through the power of chocolate. We love our country, and we love being part of your celebrations and life moments. The impact Purdys Chocolatier will see from this trade war remains to be seen but undoubtedly there will be impact. And undoubtedly, we will be there, making chocolates, for you all to enjoy. Being a 117-year-old Canadian company has not come without experiencing challenges but we’re proud to have remained true to our Canadian roots and the values that have upheld this business. Our business is built around respect, support, and compassion and we hope that this situation brings out respect, support, and compassion from others. We’re proud to work in Canada and continue to invest in Canada. We’re excited to support and partner with other Canadian-owned businesses to continue to create a resilient Canadian economy. It will not be an easy time and we can only control what we can control. Let’s help each other through this. #MadeInCanada #BuyCanadian Lawrence Eade, President of Purdys Chocolatier

Is there a yellow-boxed-cherry-flavoured-treat-shaped hole in your heart? 🍒 We can fill the void. And that yellow box. Just bring in our competitor’s discontinued empty package from January 24 - 26 and we’ll give you one of our best-selling Cordial Cherries for free.* It won’t be the exact same experience, but we’re sure our treat will more than satisfy that chocolate cherry craving (minus the polyglycerol polyricinoleate). 💜 Cordially, Purdys Chocolatier *Limit two per customer. While quantities last.
