I found Leslie Smith to be a nice personable lady but she lacked confidence and impressed me as timid about the prospect of going to court if the matter did not settle. Was a bit upset with the charge of the consultation. I ended up going to another employment lawyer who was more aggressive and was very pleased with the final result.

As for whether I am timid, no, I am not timid to go to court. Have been doing it for years. I just don't happen to believe that court is the best solution for most employment matters. Neither do most judges. Settlement and mediation are better, faster, cheaper. I am not the type of lawyer that takes people's money and tells them to take their matters to court no matter what, if the more reasonable approach is settlement. If Brainr didn't like the consultation fee, he surely wouldn't enjoy spending the thousands of dollars taking a matter to court, not to mention the 1-3 years it takes to get to trial. Most employment law matters can and should be settled. That is not being timid. That is being wise and respectful of people's sensibilities and finances.
